MMA Media Has An Obligation To Grill Dana White On RNC Remarks
Or Yes It's Political Because White Made It Political
The MMA media often gets labeled as too political. Most of the time this talk comes from MMA fans who are always quick to point out that we should “stick to sports.” Well, those fans can go pound sand because UFC president Dana White made things very political when he appeared at the 2020 Republican National Convention and spewed his patented line of bullshit all over the nation’s airwaves.
White’s first appearance at the RNC in 2016 was not political. Everything White touched on during that speech was focused on his friendship with Trump and how Trump helped the UFC. Last week’s speech was a different animal.
White openly expressed what he claimed were facts — but weren’t — and gave reasons why he thought Trump deserves a second term. For instance, White said that Trump kept all of his campaign promises — which c’mon now — isn’t even remotely true.

With White making his appearance political, the MMA media has an obligation and responsibility to put the UFC boss on the spot for his lies and false claims. To not do so would, more or less, ignore what White said at the convention and that serves no one but the UFC and White.
The MMA media should grill White on his statements and force him to make his stance clear and ask him about the lies he told and why he believes those things to be true when they are clearly untrue.
Another reason White needs to be asked questions is because the UFC is a global promotion and some of Trump’s actions and statements hurt the nation’s some of the UFC fighters and fans come from, some of Trump’s claims hurt the people who live in this country if there skin tone is a little darker than lily white, some of Trump’s remarks and actions are harmful to people who are not straight, white males. If White wants to represent Trump in such a visible way, he should be asked about these items and forced to either agree with Trump or distance himself from Trump on these subjects. If White truly doesn’t give a shit — which he often claims — he shouldn’t have an issue answering these straightforward questions.
And if White says he doesn’t want to talk politics? Well, that’s tough shit, he’s the one that made things political when he appeared at the RNC and made false claims.
